Coast-to-coast: Tyson, Huff deliver career games; Clippers continue ascent

James Harden took command in the absence of Kawhi Leonard, propelling the surging LA Clippers into the Western Conference Play-in picture just like that. 

On the same day, Jaylon Tyson and Jay Huff turned in career outings for the Cavaliers and Pacers, respectively.

CLIPPERS CONTINUE RISE ; TYSON, HUFF DELIVER BIG-TIME 

  • Cleveland Cavaliers (24-19) def. Philadelphia 76ers (22-18), 117-115: Evan Mobley rose to the occasion, delivering a clutch game-winning dunk late in the contest to cap a thrilling Cavaliers comeback in Philadelphia.

Jaylon Tyson turned in the performance of his career, erupting for a career-high 39 points, including seven triples, and setting up Mobley’s decisive slam with a perfectly-timed assist.

  • Indiana Pacers (10-32) def. New Orleans Pelicans (10-34), 127-119: With a career-best 29 points from Jay Huff, the Pacers mounted a balanced offensive effort to silence the Pelicans.

  • LA Clippers (18-23) def. Toronto Raptors (25-18), 121-117: James Harden registered a 31-point, 10-assist double-double, taking charge in the Clippers’ gutsy overtime win over the Raptors. 

After starting the season 6-21, LA rattled off 12 wins in their last 14 games to leapfrog the Memphis Grizzlies for 10th place in the Western Conference Play-in picture.

  • Houston Rockets (24-15) def. Minnesota Timberwolves (27-15), 110-105: Despite missing 13 free throws, the Rockets leaned on Kevin Durant’s season-high 39 points to overcome the Timberwolves and reclaim their winning form.

  • Sacramento Kings (12-30) def. Washington Wizards (10-30), 128-115: Russell Westbrook lit up the Wizards with 26 points, including six triples, leading the Kings to their fourth consecutive win.

  • Brooklyn Nets (12-27) def. Chicago Bulls (19-22), 112-109: Michael Porter Jr. delivered a go-ahead layup with 5.4 seconds remaining, helping the Nets overcome a blown 20-point fourth-quarter lead and against the snapped a five-game skid.
