No second medal just yet for Eldrew Yulo as he finished 4th in the men’s vault final of the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnnastics Junior World Championships at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Newport, Pasay on Monday.

Yulo couldn’t stick his landings clean enough to make up the difference in difficulty score as he averaged 13.716 across his two vaults.

The 17-year-old pumped life into his medal bid with his first vault when he achieved a 9.133 execution score for a 13.933 score. But taking too many steps in landing for his second vault got him a lower score of 13.500.

He attempted two vaults with 4.800 difficulty.

Arsenii Dukhno, who fumbled his chance at a medal in the floor exercise on Sunday, performed well — especially in his second vault where he incurred a stick bonus.

The Russian attempted two vaults with 5.200 difficulty with execution scores of 9.000 and 9.266 in his first and second vault, respectively.

Dukhno cleared the rest of the competition with a 0.267 gap from second placer Sol Scott, who scored an average of 14.066.

Scott’s compatriot Evan McPhillips got the bronze with 13.950.

Yulo, who is still nursing an ankle injury in his right foot, thus has one more chance to take a gold medal or just simply add to his floor exercise bronze with the high bar final in the last apparatus event of the Junior World Championships.
