Vietnam's VTV Binh Dien Long An closed out China's Beijing BAIC Motor in dominant fashion to advance to the 2025 AVC Women's Champions League Final.
Vietnam’s VTV Binh Dien Long An got their revenge against China’s Beijing BAIC Motor after sweeping their 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League semifinal matchup, 25-15, 25-19, 25-21, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig Saturday, April 26.
The Vietnamese squad made sure that there would be no repeat of their pool play matchup, wherein BAIC Motor pulled off the reverse sweep.
This time, leading two sets, Binh Dien Long An distanced themselves early in the third frame at 11-6, led by the trio of Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Lu Thi Phuong, and Natalia Lijewska.
But while BAIC Motor threatened to mount a comeback, Binh Dien Long An showed no signs of faltering as T4 and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh put their squad at match point, 24-19, before Quynh sealed the win with a down-the-line hit.
T4 finished with a game-high 17 points on 13 attacks, three blocks, and one service ace. She was backed by Phuong and Quynh with 14 and 13 markers, respectively.
The Vietnamese champions also limited the tournament’s leading scorer Jin Ye to just seven points.
"China had a really tough match last night, five setter and on the Vietnam side, the two middle blockers, we changed the middle blockers. Also, T4 played in the opposite position. Essentially those were the changes," head coach Thai Quang Lai to a translator during the post-game press conference.
The AVC Final will feature Binh Dien Long An facing the unbeaten Zhetysu VC of Kazakhstan.
A win for Binh Dien Long An could see them as the second Vietnamese team to win the AVC tilt.
