Pacman will be back in the boxing ring!
It’s official, Manny Pacquiao will be back in the boxing in 2024!
Pacquiao is set to engage in an exhibition boxing bout against Muay Thai Buakaw Banchamek on April 20, 2024.
Dubbed "The Match of Legends," the contest will adhere to international boxing regulations, featuring six rounds lasting three minutes each, separated by two-minute breaks.
The competitors will vie in the super welterweight category, weighing in at 154 lbs or 70kg, which corresponds to junior middleweight in Muay Thai.
The victor of the match is slated to earn a reward of $289,000 (equivalent to P16 million) along with the recently unveiled WBC Legends Belt.
Pacquiao, the only eight-division world champ, last fought in an actual match back in August 2021, which resulted in a unanimous decision loss to Yordenis Ugas.
Buakaw Banchamek, meanwhile, recently secured a triumph over Thai boxing icon Saenchai in a bare-knuckle boxing contest held last November.
Pacquiao and Buakaw had engaged in a preliminary face-off in anticipation of their upcoming match. The seasoned fighters went head-to-head in Bangkok on July 21 as part of promotional activities for the bout.
Filipinos will definitely keep an eye out for Pacman’s return to the ring—never mind if it is just an exhibition.
For all fans know, this bout with the Thai legend might be a prelude of something bigger for the Pacman, like an actual comeback fight given his recent pronouncements about being ready for it.
