Vanessa de Jesus is expected to arrive next month from the United States of America, where she is now suiting up for Notre Dame.
Vanessa de Jesus is reinforcing Gilas Pilipinas Women come the 2025 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup in July.
Samahang Basektbol ng Pilipinas executive director Erika Dy confirmed this to reporters almost two months before the July 13-20 meet in Shenzhen, China.
“Vanessa De Jesus has been invited back to the team. And she has given her commitment,” said Dy.
De Jesus debuted for the Philippines in the 2023 edition of the regional tournament where Gilas scored a lone win — a 92-81 decision against Chinese Taipai.
The Filipino-American wound up with 25 points, two rebounds, four assists, and two steals against the Taiwanese.
The 5-foot-8 playmaker averaged 12.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in the tournament where Gilas wound up sixth.
After transferring from Duke to Notre Dame last April, De Jesus is expected to join Gilas’ training camp in early June.
“So we expect her to be here around first or second week of June,” said Dy.
