Quentin Millora-Brown’s quest to become a member of Gilas Pilipinas remains riddled with hurdles.

This after FIBA categorized the former UP standout as a naturalized player despite QMB’s claims that he was able to secure his Philippine passport before the age of 16.

Despite this initial setback, Millora-Brown’s camp has already filed an appeal to change his status to a local, which should give him a better chance of suiting up for Gilas in the foreseeable future.

“They gave me a naturalized status. The lawyers told me we have a pretty strong position [so] we’re hopeful that we get FIBA to change their position from naturalized to local,” Millora-Brown said.

“But we’ll see what happens. Obviously we don’t control what they say but we’re hopeful.”

The UAAP Season 87 champion with the UP Fighting Maroons QMB hopes to receive a positive news soon.

“I feel really confident but again I can’t really speak about it. I’m not a lawyer. I don’t know all the details about the case,” he said.

“But they told me it’s a strong position. And I feel comfortable with that.”

While waiting for his FIBA status to be sorted out, Milora-Brown got to experience what it was like to be in a Gilas Pilipinas game, albeit playing on the other side of the fence with the Macau Black Bears.

Macau served as a send-off opponent for Gilas prior to the FIBA Asia Cup 2025, which the national team won after a 21-point comeback, 103-98.

Millora-Brown finished with six points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 21 minutes.

“Even if it’s on the other side it’s still an amazing experience,” QMB said.
