Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons set the tone for the Alas Pilipinas Women's beach volleyball team in completing a 2-0 sweep of Singapore in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games on Saturday, December 13.

The "SiPons" duo built on their breakthrough victory over Indonesia the previous day, overpowering Eliza Chong and Tin Wing Chan in straight sets, 21-10, 21-6.

The momentum carried over to the second match, as Sunny Villapando and Dij Rodriguez took over to complete the sweep with a 21-11, 21-8 win over Valerie Lee and Hui Ying Ang.

The victory gave Villapando and Rodriguez their first SEA Games win, bouncing back from a 12-21, 21-19, 15-13 loss to Indonesia 2’s Josephine Selvina Anasthasya Kaize and Bernadetta Shella Herdanti.

After winning bronze in 2019 and 2021, Rondina and Pons are back together for these SEA Games in Thailand, looking to bounce back from an early 2023 exit in Cambodia with different partners.

Up next for the Alas Pilipinas Women's beach volleyball team is Malaysia on Sunday at 11:10 a.m. (PH time).
