“[There’s] a lot of support from the Filipino fans, again we’re one of the best volleyball fans in the world, especially our fan zone. I wish everyone, our Alas Pilipinas, good luck for the first game on September 12,” said Suzara.
“We have an exciting opening ceremony. I think we’re ready. All the FIVB officials are here. Eight teams are here [already]. I wish everyone the best of luck in this first-ever FIVB World Championship with 32 teams,” he added.
As for home court advantage, Espejo said that they are hoping to gain the adoration of their countrymen.
Being the underdog in all of their assignments, Alas Pilipinas will need all the help from their “7th man.”
“Sa lahat ng volleyball fans and supporter ng volleyball sa Pilipinas, please support us Alas men sa darating na World Championship. I hope na dumalo kayo sa Mall of Asia, sumuporta at ipagdasal kami,” he said.
“Gagawin namin best namin [and] hopefully makadikit, manalo ng isang set and makapanalo ng games.”
Alas opens its campaign against Tunisia on Friday, after the opening ceremonies at the MOA Arena which will feature Kpop boyband BOYNEXTDOOR and local talent Karencitta.
Tickets for the games and the opening ceremonies are available through the tournament’s website.
