Maddie Madayag returns to the Alas Pilipinas lineup for the 2025 SEA V.League Leg 2, replacing Thea Gagate, who was ruled out due to a minor ankle injury.
Alas Pilipinas have been forced to make a late adjustment to their lineup for the second leg of the 2025 SEA V.League, as middle blocker Maddie Madayag replaces Thea Gagate due to an ankle injury.
Coach Jorge Souza de Brito confirmed to One Sports that Gagate suffered a minor injury during training, prompting the change just hours before the national team’s opening match against hosts Vietnam on Friday night.
“Small injury as X-ray [showed]. No fracture. She felt something uncomfortable during our practice yesterday,” De Brito shared.

A clip on X (formerly known as Twitter) showed Gagate being helped off the court by teammate Leila Cruz during the team's training session before game day.
Madayag, who suited up for Alas during the tournament’s first leg in Nakhon Ratchasima, now steps back into the fold alongside fellow middle blockers Fifi Sharma and Dell Palomata.
The seasoned Choco Mucho star brings experience and stability to the squad’s frontline as the Philippines aims to secure back-to-back podium finishes in the regional tilt.
Alas Women will face Vietnam at 8:00 p.m. (Manila time) in their tournament opener. The game will be aired on One Sports and the Pilipinas Live app.
