Kevin Quiambao of De La Salle University and Bella Belen of National University will be honored as the top players in UAAP men's basketball and women's volleyball, respectively, at the Collegiate Press Corps' Annual Awards Night.
Six of the UAAP and NCAA’s standout stars will be recognized as the athletic season’s cream of the crop in the Collegiate Press Corps’ (CPC) Annual Awards Night presented by San Miguel Corporation on June 17 at the Discovery Suites Manila in Ortigas, Pasig.
For the first time, the CPC will present its highest individual honors to the best performers in women's basketball and men's volleyball, highlighting the growing popularity of these sports. This ceremony is also supported by the Philippine Sports Commission.
Kevin Quiambao from De La Salle University will be named the UAAP Men’s Basketball Player of the Year, having secured a trio of accolades: Season 86 MVP, Finals MVP, and leading his team to their first championship in seven years.
Kent Pastrana from the University of Santo Tomas will be the inaugural UAAP Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, having led her team to their first championship in nearly twenty years, ending National University’s seven-year winning streak.
This year’s ceremony will also recognize the achievements in volleyball, with four champions being honored.
National University's Bella Belen and University of Perpetual Help System Dalta's Louie Ramirez will be awarded UAAP Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year and CPC’s first NCAA Men’s Volleyball Player of the Year, respectively.
Belen's impressive offensive and defensive skills earned her a second MVP title in the UAAP, while Ramirez’s outstanding performance secured him a consecutive NCAA MVP award.
Champion setters will also be honored.
NU's Joshua Retamar will be named the UAAP Men’s Volleyball Player of the Year, joining Ramirez among the historic men's volleyball honorees.
Retamar played a crucial role in NU’s four-peat title run, earning back-to-back Finals MVP and Best Setter awards before joining the national team.
College of St. Benilde's Cloanne Mondoñedo, on the other hand, will be recognized as the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year.
She made history as the first NCAA setter to win MVP, leading her team to a third unbeaten championship with a streak of 40 consecutive wins.
The CPC's second unified awards event celebrates the return of all collegiate sports since 2022, with Discovery Suites as the venue partner and Jockey as a minor sponsor.
