Brownlee values constant support of Filipino fans in FIBA Asia Cup:

Even with their losses piling up, Gilas Pilipinas could count on their supporters to show up at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Gilas did not disappoint the Filipino crowd after finally nailing its first win at the expense of Iraq, 66-57, in its last Group stage game Saturday, Aug. 9 (Manila time).

The fans' efforts to cheer the Nationals on were surely appreciated by naturalized Filipino Justin Brownlee.

“It's always great to see the Filipino fans. They always come here with great energy. Win or lose, they're going to support us,” said Brownlee.

Now Gilas continues to fight for the Pinoys as it takes on Saudi Arabia in a knockout qualification game for the quarterfinal slot.

The match is set at midnight Tuesday, Aug. 12, (Manila time) with the winner facing the top seed of Group A in the quarterfinals.

Now at 2-0, Australia will likely top the said bracket.

Brownlee and the rest of Gilas expect their supporters to flock to the venue in droves anew.

“We just want to go out there and fight for them every game,” Brownlee said.
