In his three playing years for National University, superstar setter Owa Retamar has yet to miss out on a UAAP Finals appearance.

This Season 86 men's volleyball tournament was no different, as Retamar orchestrated the Bulldogs' finals-clinching victory over De La Salle University in four sets, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21.

Retamar finished with 21 excellent to go along with five points, all built on blocks.

"'Yung five blocks kasi trinabaho namin 'yun kasi pinag-focusan namin nila coach kung paano namin sila mado-dominate sa blocks," Retamar said during the post-game press conference.

"Pinaka-importante sa amin 'yung teamwork namin kasi sa game namin ngayon andami naming chance na maangat 'yung bola tapos na-score pa rin kaya pagbubutihan pa namin," he added.

The 22-year-old setter, who will have his graduation tomorrow, also wanted to make sure that his special day will not a sad one.

Luckily, Retamar's younger teammates in Buds Buddin and Jade Disquitado once again powered their way past La Salle. Buddin finished with 23 points, while Disquitado had seven markers in the third and fourth set.

"Kumbaga, ako 'yung player na ayaw natatalo kaya bawat game talaga sa 'kin importante. Lalo na ngayon final year ko na tapos graduation ko pa bukas, so kailangan maganda 'yung araw na 'yun," said the Financial Management student.

"Tinrabaho talaga namin and sabi ni Nico [Almendras], dalhin namin sila. [Pero] sila pa 'yung nag-angat sa 'min, 'yung mga nasa lower namin kaya maganda 'yung kinalabasan," he added.

Retamar and the rest of the Bulldogs will now await the winner of the Final Four series between Far Eastern University and the University of Santo Tomas.
