Row, row, row your boat… gently down the gold.

Paris Olympian Joanie Delgaco and fellow rower Kristine Paraon delivered a golden performance in the women’s double sculls rowing event at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games on Tuesday, December 16. 

The Philippine duo crossed the finish line in 8:16.976 seconds, securing the country’s 26th gold medal and giving Day 7 of competition a high start.

Thailand’s Sukkaew Rawiwan and Chaempudsa Parisa took silver in 8:21.634, while Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Van Anh and Pham Thi Bich Ngoh claimed bronze with a time of 8:26.447.

Delgaco had already shown strong form the day before, powering through the Lightweight Women’s Single Sculls (LW1X) preliminaries with a second-place finish in 9:14.970 to advance to the medal rounds.
