It was a tough day for Philippine cricket at SEA Games Thailand 2025.

After the women’s team fell earlier in the day, the men’s squad faced a similar outcome at the hands of reigning silver medalists Malaysia, who handed the Nationals a crushing 114-run defeat in their Group B - T20 duel Tuesday, December 9, at the TerdThai Cricket Grounds in Bangkok.

The Nationals claimed the third wicket of Malaysia’s first innings, but the visitors quickly built momentum en route to posting a commanding 201/9 in 20 overs.

The Philippines only mustered muster 87/9, unable to break through the Malaysian onslaught to absorb its first loss in the competition.

Now, attention turns to their next clash against Singapore tomorrow, December 10, at 2:30 p.m., in a must-win game to keep their semifinal hopes alive.

Only the top two teams from each group will advance into the next round.
