Another day, another display of Philippine dominance on the mound.

The Filipino batters delivered a 21-1 beatdown of Vietnam, extending their unbeaten start to 4-0 in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games men’s baseball tournament at the Queen Sirikit’s 60th Anniversary Baseball Stadium on Tuesday, December 9.

It marked the second straight game that the mercy rule has been applied for the Philippine baseball team, who scored a 21-0 shutout of Malaysia yesterday.

Just as they did during the first three games, the Philippine team showcased their superiority and now occupy the top spot in the team standings.

Up next for the defending champions is fellow unbeaten host Thailand (3-0) tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. (PH time) in what could be the preview of the gold medal match.

Paolo Macasaet got things started with a two-run single, and the Filipino hitters added two more RBIs to take a commanding 4-0 lead in the first inning.

Moments later, Rhazley Santos drilled a two-run single, and a subsequent RBI extended the lead to 7-0 in the second inning.

Team Philippines kept the pressure on, racking up 14 more runs even as Vietnam managed to score in the third inning.

Following their showdown with Thailand, the Nationals close out the group stage against Laos on Thursday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m.
