After Mallie Ramirez gave the Filipinas a fighting chance with an equalizer, Myanmar delivered the dagger to get the opening win against the Philippine women's football team in SEA Games 2025 Thailand.
The Filipinas suffered a tough start to their SEA Games 2025 campaign, falling 2–1 to Myanmar after conceding a heartbreaking 89th-minute header on Friday, December 5, at the IPE Chonburi Stadium.
Myanmar scored early in the 5th minute off a defensive miscue, but the Philippines battled back and equalized in the 70th minute when Mallie Ramirez cleaned up a spilled save after a dangerous Jessika Cowart header.
Despite a stronger second half, the Filipinas couldn’t hold on as Myanmar netted the late winner to take all three points in Group A. The Philippines now turns its focus to a crucial match against Vietnam on December 8, with only the top two teams advancing to the knockout stage.
