The reunion of GonzaQuis is finally a reality with the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles, as Rachel Anne Daquis and Jovelyn Gonzaga once again share the same side of the court.

Built on years of chemistry dating back to their Army and Cignal days, the partnership played a major role in Daquis’ decision to make the move.

For both veterans, familiarity has made the transition smoother—on and off the floor.

“Actually, siyempre mas magaan ‘yung decision na ‘yun kasi kasama ko si Jovs,” Daquis told One Sports.

“Malalim na yung pinagsamahan namin since Army and Cignal, so excited lang talaga ako na makasama ko siya. Para siyang comfort zone ko.”

Daquis shared that even when they were on different teams, communication between them never stopped, with constant conversations about their game and areas for improvement.

“Kami pa rin ‘yung magkausap after game—anong kailangan ko, ano ‘yung kailangan ko i-improve,” she said.

“Ngayon na nandiyan na siya physically, mas magaan at mas madali.”

Jov-Rachel dynamic

On the court, Daquis described their dynamic as one rooted in balance, with both players helping regulate each other’s energy.

“Balanced kami. All-out kami sa laro,” she said. “Pag sobra na siya, ako yung taga-kalma. Pag ako naman yung hyper, siya yung magpapa-kalma sa akin.”

Gonzaga echoed that sentiment, saying their contrasting personalities have always complemented each other.

“Iba yung feeling pag may Rachel Anne Daquis akong kasama kasi magkaiba kami ng personality, pero pag pinagsama, nagsa-swak,” said Gonzaga.

The Army veteran added that their familiar roles have naturally returned, with Daquis once again serving as the vocal presence alongside her.

“For so long, si Rachel ‘yung very vocal,” Gonzaga said. “Thankfully dumating siya. At least ngayon may kaagapay na ako, may kasangga na ako.”
