Veteran spiker Rachel Daquis is set for a fresh chapter in her storied career after moving to sister team ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles ahead of the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

The 38-year-old volleyball icon crossed over from Farm Fresh Foxies, where she joined in 2024 but saw limited action as the team leaned heavily on its younger attackers over the past year.

Daquis’ transfer marks a return to the spotlight after a brief period away from competitive volleyball. During her time off, she ventured into the culinary scene, opening Forn de Manila—recognized as the first authentic Filipino bakery in Barcelona, Spain.

Now with the Thunderbelles, Daquis steps into a familiar environment almost immediately, reuniting with longtime friend Jovelyn Gonzaga. The move revives the celebrated “GonzaQuis” tandem, a partnership that dates back more than a decade.

The duo first teamed up in 2011 with the Philippine Army Lady Troopers, before later becoming key pillars of the Cignal HD Spikers during the peak years of the now-defunct Philippine Super Liga.

Daquis is part of a wider roster shake-up for ZUS Coffee, which also brought in veteran setter Chie Saet, along with former Chery Tiggo standouts Cess Robles, Renee Peñafiel, and Karen Verdeflor.

The additions bolster a ZUS Coffee squad coming off a breakthrough Reinforced Conference run, where the Thunderbelles reached their first-ever finals before settling for silver against the Petro Gazz Angels.

ZUS Coffee opens its 2026 PVL campaign on February 3 against the Capital1 Solar Spikers at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
