The PLDT High Speed Hitters grinded out a four-set victory against Kobe Shinwa University to take home the 2025 PVL Invitational title.
PLDT continued its rise in the PVL after overcoming Japan’s Kobe Shinwa, 21-25, 31-29, 25-22, 25-18, in the Invitational Finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao Sunday, Aug. 31.
The High Speed Hitters became just the second team to nab back-to-back titles in the league and the first to complete two straight tournament sweeps.
No team has repeated as champions with an unblemished record since the league began in 2017.

Rising from an opening frame stumble, PLDT amped it up in the next two frames to seize a 2-1 set lead.
Eager to close it out in the fourth, snatched an early four-point advantage on miscues by Kobe Shinwa.
Despite the Japanese collegiate squad’s efforts to cut the deficit, the High Speed Hitters had an answer for every rally thrown at them.
With momentum on their side, PLDT built its biggest lead in the match at 21-13 after Savi Davison’s backrow attack.
From there, the PVL on Tour champion wrapped it up, with Mika Reyes and Kianna Dy scoring the final two points to seal the franchise's first Invitational title.
