The Kobe Shinwa University will head to the 2025 PVL Invitational Finals after pulling off a reverse sweep against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 21-25, 17-25, 26-24, 25-22, 15-6, on Friday, August 29, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Coming back two sets down, Kobe Shinwa pushed ahead to a 6-2 lead in the fifth set behind Arisu Ishikawa and Nagisa Komatsuda.

With momentum on their side, the Japanese continued to pile on the pressure against Chery Tiggo, building their largest lead at 13-4 after Komatsuda’s left-handed drop shot.

Kobe Shinwa would close the game out with Komatsuda and Ishikawa scoring the final two points.

Setter and team captain Sakura Furuta was hailed the Player of the Game with 33 excellent sets.

The Japanese collegiate squad improved to a 4-1 record, securing the No. 2 spot and earning the right to face the PLDT High Speed Hitters in the championship match on Sunday.

Kobe Shinwa also became just the third foreign team to make the PVL Finals.

On the other hand, the Crossovers dropped to 3-2 for third place, putting them in the bronze medal match against the Creamline Cool Smashers.
