The Creamline Cool Smashers get one back against the Cignal HD Spikers to secure the bronze medal in the PVL on Tour.
The Creamline Cool Smashers secured another podium finish after clinching the bronze medal in PVL on Tour against the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-17, 29-27, 25-17, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday, August 17.
This marks the Cool Smashers’ 18th straight podium finish and their 4th bronze medal.
The last time Creamline had to settle for third place was back in the 2022 Reinforced Conference.
Michele Gumabao led the way for Creamline with 21 points built on 16 attacks, three blocks, and two service aces.
Trailing for most of the second frame, the Cool Smashers, powered by veteran setter Rhea Dimaculangan-Villarete, mounted a 3-0 run to tie the game at 24-all.
Despite Cignal’s seven match points in the extended set, Creamline still found a way to secure the victory with Pangs Panaga’s kill block and Michele Gumabao’s off-the-block hit.
With momentum on their side, the Cool Smashers kept a hold of their lead in the third set, going on a 7-0 run to close out the game with Alyssa Valdez sealing the win with an off-the-block hit.
