Just hours after being eliminated from semis contention, PLDT dumped its frustrations on Creamline, 22-25, 25-14, 25-22, 27-25, to end their 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference bid on a positive note at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Thursday, April 25.

The High Speed Hitters brushed aside an opening-set hiccup before staving off the Cool Smashers to finish their campaign with an 8-3 record.

This is the first time that PLDT prevailed over Creamline after losing eight straight in their past head-to-head matchups since the former joined the league in 2021.

The defending champions, on the other hand, could not carry over momentum from their resounding win over Choco Mucho the last time out and instead fell to the fourth spot with an 8-3 slate.

Savi Davison fired 27 points built on 25 attacks, one block, and an ace. She also collected 15 receptions for a spirited double-double outing.

Locked at 22 in the fourth frame, Davison pushed PLDT ahead with a kill before she committed an attack violation. Tots Carlos then coughed out a service error but more than atoned for it with a hit that forged a two-to-win situation.

Erika Santos and Jema Galanza traded crucial hits from there until the former buoyed the High Speed Hitters at match point. In the final sequence, Majoy Baron roofed Galanza to ice the game for good.

Santos provided ample support with 15 markers on 12 attacks, two blocks, and an ace, while Fiola Ceballos, Baron, and Dell Palomata pitched in 13, seven, and six points, respectively.

Kim Fajardo tossed 16 excellent sets for the High Speed Hitters, who edged the Cool Smashers, 60-57.

PLDT also asserted its will above the net with eight blocks, with seven from its side tallying a rejection against Creamline, who only had two denials.

Galanza paced the losing side with 16 points, while Carlos and Jeannette Panaga had 12 and 11 markers, respectively.

Creamline now braces for the round-robin semis on April 30, Thursday, at the same Pasig venue.
