PVL: Tots Carlos, Mylene Paat, MJ Phillips enter 2024 Korean V-League Asian Quota Draft
Tots Carlos, Mylene Paat, and MJ Phillips will test their luck abroad as they join the 2024 Korean V-League Asian Quota Draft.

PVL stars Tots Carlos, Mylene Paat, and MJ Phillips are set to take their talents abroad in the upcoming 2024 Korean V-League (KOVO) Women's Asian Quota Draft.

The three Filipina athletes are among the 36 candidates in the draft pool, which also include a diverse selection of Asian talents.

Among the notable names in the draft pool is Thai sensation Pornpun Guedpard, who was the top pick in last year's draft, joining Hwaseong IBK. Also catching attention is Indonesian standout Megawati Pertiwi.

Phillips had previously been drafted fifth overall by the Gwangju AI Peppers last year. Despite her efforts, her team struggled in the previous KOVO season, finishing last with a disappointing record of 5-31. MJ though, appeared in 35 games and scored a total of 256 points.

Following the conclusion of the KVL season, Phillips has left Gwangju and is expected to rejoin her former team, the Petro Gazz Angels.

Both Carlos and Paat, former PVL MVPs and champions, are eager to make their mark on the international stage.

Carlos, Creamline's decorated star hitter, holds the PVL single-game scoring record for a local player after a remarkable performance against Cignal where she scored 38 points in a thrilling five-set match.

The Korea tryouts will mark Carlos' first foray into the international volleyball circuit.

Meanwhile, Paat brings experience from her successful stint with Thailand's Nakhon Ratchasima VC, where she not only won a bronze medal but also emerged as the league's best scorer in Thailand's VTL.

This will be Paat's second time trying her luck in Korea, as the Chery Tiggo star went undrafted in last year’s KOVO selection along with Jia De Guzman, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Majoy Baron, and Iris Tolenada.
