Middle blocker MJ Phillips is coming home to reinforce a stacked Petro Gazz Angels roster for the 2024 PVL season.

Petro Gazz made the announcement on social media this Wednesday.

"MJ is coming home! The two-time PVL Best Middle Blocker is back to refuel the Angels," the team wrote.

The Angels confirmed to One Sports that MJ will finish her contract in Korea before returning to the country.

She made her mark in the PVL by securing the Best Middle Blocker Award during the 2022 Reinforced Conference and the 2023 First All-Filipino Conference.

Phillips has made history by becoming the first Filipina in the Korean V.League, after she was drafted fifth overall by the Gwangju AI Peppers at the Asian Quota Draft.

Gwangju though currently sits in last place in the seven-team field with a 2-26 record. The season will finish this April.

Phillips will be rejoining a squad which recently won the PNVF Champions League after beating the Cignal HD Spikers.

They are now led by Japanese tactician Koji Tsuzurabara.

The Angels are also reinforced with PNVF MVP Brooke Van Sickle. They are helmed by new team captain and PNVF Best Middle Blocker Rem Palma.
