The Nxled Chameleons may have already bowed out of contention in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference, but Lycha Ebon knows that the fight is still not over.

With three matches left before closing out the elimination round, Ebon and the rest of the Chameleons are eager to put a positive conclusion to their campaign.

Nxled showed that resolve when it carved out a hard-earned five-set victory over the also-ran Farm Fresh Foxies to notch its third win in eight outings.

“Sobrang proud po ako kasi nakikita ko na lahat kami gusto manalo,” said Ebon, who poured 17 points in the escape act.

The Chameleons bid their semis hopes farewell, after the PLDT High Speed Hitters dispatched the ousted Strong Group Athletics to enhance their record to 7-1 for 20 points later that day.

Reason being, Nxled would only be able to amass a maximum of 17 points should it sweep its remaining games, a point shy of current fourth-seeded Creamline, which holds a 6-2 slate with 18 points.

While the no. 8 Chameleons feel a sense of regret, they choose to remain undeterred for the sake of finishing strong, especially so when Nxled head coach Taka Minowa wants the team to reach at least top-six in the standings.

“Kami po na tinatrabaho po namin araw-araw sa training, tapos ako po na-realize ko po na andami naming laro noong mga nakaraan na lagi naming sinasabi na ‘Sayang, sayang’. Bakit pa ba kami [nagpapaka pagod] sa training kung lagi lang naman natatalo,” shared Ebon.

She then continued, “Sinigurado po namin na makuha ‘tong game na ‘to kasi isa rin ‘to sa mga magbo-boost ng morale namin going into next games.”

Ebon and the Chameleons will be needing every ounce of motivation when they plunge back into action as their next assignment will be the defending champion Creamline Cool Smashers on April 13, Saturday.
