The fight against those who sell overpriced game tickets intensifies.
Let this be a reminder to scalpers: the PBA will not go easy on you.
The league is coordinating with local police in its crackdown against scalpers selling overpriced tickets in person or online, especially with the upcoming Game 7 of the Commissioner’s Cup Finals between Ginebra and Bay Area, which will be held in the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
“Ongoing pa rin 'yan (operation). Kaya dun sa mga nagbebenta or nagi-scalping online, huwag nilang gawin yan,” said commissioner Willie Marcial in a post on the PBA website.
A video from the Quezon City Police District showed three scalpers arrested ahead Game 6 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Members of the QCPD posed as buyers before apprehending the suspects just outside the historic arena. Scalping or selling overpriced tickets is a violation of QC ordinance No. SP-2744 otherwise known as “Anti-Scalping Law.”
The said game attracted 22,361 screaming fans who anticipated a Ginebra coronation. But the Dragons had other plans and forced a Game 7 in Bulacan.
The deciding match is expected to draw another mammoth crowd since the Philippine Arena has a seating capacity of 55,000.
As of posting, tickets for Game 7 are almost sold out, with only the General Admissions are available on Ticketnet’s website.
Marcial has a message to scalpers: “Mag-ingat sila.”
