Nothing’s certain as far as LA Tenorio’s future as a player with Ginebra after the Gin Kings lost Game 7 of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals to San Miguel.
Have fans seen the last of LA Tenorio on a PBA court?
Tenorio admitted uncertainty surrounds his future as a Ginebra playmaker after the Gin Kings fell short of returning to the Finals for the third straight time in PBA Season 49.
“I don’t know what’s gonna happen to me for me the next few weeks, next few months. So we’ll see. Hindi ko pa alam yung plano ko,” Tenorio said after Ginebra’s 93-100 loss to San Miguel in Game 7 of the Philippine Cup semifinals on Wednesday at the Big Dome.
If that was indeed his last game, the veteran playmaker felt it was an anticlimactic end to an illustrious career littered with eight championships and four Finals MVP wins.
“We’ll see,” Tenorio said when asked if he is hinting at retirement.
“You will hear it from me definitely in the next few weeks. Nakakalungkot lang, if this is really my last game. Nakakalungkot lang.”
What consoles him, however, was his Game 6 heroics that saw him will the Gin Kings to a dramatic 88-87 win.
The fourth overall pick in the 2006 Draft scored 11 points in that fourth period capped by a booming go-ahead triple, which allowed Ginebra to force Wednesday’s Game 7. In the do-or-die however, he was limited to just two minutes and 28 seconds off the bench.
“I think memorable this season is my last game. Game 6. Kasi dun lang ako naglaro the whole season. So definitely memorable season,” he said with a smile.
For now, Tenorio will focus on his stint as Gilas Pilipinas Youth head coach as they prepare for the FIBA U16 Asia Cup in Mongolia next month.
