Ginebra fans erupted in applause as LA Tenorio made his way onto the court in the second period of the Gin Kings' Game 2 duel with San Miguel in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup Friday, June 27.

Tenorio is playing for the first time since being relegated to the unrestricted free agent list to focus on his coaching duties with the Gilas Pilipinas Youth in the FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers.

Asked about his comeback, the seasoned playmaker said it’s as if he never left.

“Same system naman ang itinatakbo namin. Kahit naman mawala ako nang matagal, alam ko pa rin ang mga dapat gawin,” said Tenorio.

Tenorio said he only needed to regain some rhythm to be of help for Ginebra, which is looking to return to the Finals for the third straight conference.

“It’s just a matter of rhythm lang, 'yong back and forth,” he said.

Unfortunately, his squad failed to follow up on its win in the opener and instead absorbed an 83-100 loss to the Beermen.

He wound up scoreless but had a steal in over seven minutes of action.

Nonetheless, Tenorio felt good to return to action.

“Nag-enjoy naman ako. Pero hindi lang maganda kasi, siyempre, natalo kami. We didn't play our usual game,” Tenorio said.

“But it’s good to be back on the floor. Hopefully, 'yong laro kanina, makakuha ako ng kaunting rhythm para mas maging ready for the next game, just in case magkaroon ng opportunity.”
