LA Tenorio was still on cloud nine a day after steering Gilas Pilipinas Youth to the FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers gold.

Fresh from a 30-point rout of Indonesia in the final match, the rookie coach took to social media to express his emotions after the 6-0 sweep of the tournament, which earned the Nationals a seat in the FIBA Asia Cup in Mongolia.

“Feeling incredibly grateful as we celebrate our gold medal victory at the SEABA U16 tournament!” said Tenorio, who is a Gilas Pilipinas legend himself.

The concurrent Ginebra playing-assistant coach proceeded to thank those who supported them every step of the way.

“A heartfelt thank you to our amazing players for their relentless effort, sacrifices and determination, to all the coaching staff for their trust and guidance,” he said.

“And sa lahat ng mga kababayan natin san man sulok ng mundo na sumuporta sa Batang Gilas, Maraming Maraming salamat po!!”

But the job is far from done.

For Tenorio, this is only the first step into a long and arduous journey ahead of his young coaching career.

“However, this is not yet the end goal. Still a long journey ahead. Keeping our heads down. A lot of work to be done,” he said.
