The NLEX Road Warriors reward JB Bahio with a fresh contract following the big man's contribution to the team earning the no. 2 seed in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup.
JB Bahio’s hard work has finally paid off.
The 6-foot-5 big man from Lapu-Lapu City signed a two-year contract extension with the NLEX Road Warriors just hours before their quarterfinal showdown against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Wednesday in the PBA Philippine Cup.
The contract signing took place at the NLEX compound in Balintawak, attended by MPTC Chief Financial Officer and NLEX Officer-in-Charge Luis S. Reñon, along with NLEX Road Warriors Team Governor Ronald T. Dulatre.
It came as a pleasant surprise for Bahio, who only joined the team as a free agent in November.
“Sobrang happy and blessed po ako na nagbunga 'yong mga extra work at lahat ng pinaghirapan ko,” said Bahio.
The 27-year-old forward has been a key contributor for NLEX in the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup, averaging 10.91 points and 7.45 rebounds during the elimination round.
His strong play was instrumental in helping the Road Warriors clinch the second seed with an impressive 8-3 slate.
Dulatre praised Bahio’s growth and commitment, saying, “We’re glad to have JB onboard for the next two years. This is to repay his hard work and positive attitude. At just 27 years old, he hasn’t even reached his prime. The best is yet to come.”
Fired up by the confidence the franchise has shown in him, Bahio is determined to repay it with everything he’s got, beginning with their quarterfinal face-off against Rain or Shine.
“Buhos na po talaga lahat, lalo na ngayon sa tiwalang ibinigay nila sa akin. Talagang gagawin ko po ang lahat. Hassle, rebound, o kung ano mang kailangang gawin para makuha namin 'yung game na 'to,” he vowed.
