Whenever Alec Stockton gets going, great things usually follow for Converge.

That was exactly what happened Friday, May 16, as Stockton heated up to lead the FiberXers’ 111-92 thrashing of NorthPort in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup.

Stockton fired 33 big points, including 13 in the squad's second quarter breakaway.

He was on fire throughout, pouring 14 in the last two frames to hand the FiberXers their fifth win in eight tries.

He also had three rebounds and the same number of assists and two steals for the FiberXers, who outscored the Batang Pier, 66-45, in the middle quarters.

“I think coming from a loss from last game, I'm definitely happy that we were able to bounce back this game,” said Stockton after the match at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Unlike in its setback against Ginebra, Converge seized control early, turning it up a notch in the second period and sustaining its charge from there.

The Batang Pier outgunned the FiberXers, 34-21, in the second quarter to post a 50-40 halftime separation which ballooned to a 23-point advantage, 107-84, in the fourth.

Aside from Stockton, Schonny Winston also put up a stellar outing with his 22 points, nine rebounds, five assists and a steal.

Justin Arana put in a third-best 18 points he complemented with 14 boards for a double-double output. Justine Baltazar punched in a double-double of his own at 10-11.

Despite coming up with a performance that earned him the Player of the Game nod, Stockon, did not seem satisfied.

“We’re not close to where we want to be. We're just going to keep on progressing in trying to [clinch] a playoff spot,” said Stockton.

Joshua Munzon paced NorthPort with 23 points, six rebounds, six assists and a steal.

William Navarro nearly had a double-double with his 20-point and nine-rebound output.

WIthout Arvin Tolentino, who is reportedly mulling over signing an extension after his contract expired on April 30, the Batang Pier found themselves caught in a downward spiral with five straight losses for a 1-5 mark.
