The NorthPort Batang Pier are hoping to finally end their slump when they battle the Converge FiberXers in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup on Friday, May 16.

Game time is set at 5 p.m. at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

NorthPort, now at 1-4, is reeling from four consecutive defeats, with the most painful setback coming last May 9 in a 104-105 heartbreaker against Meralco.

Despite a career night from Joshua Munzon, who erupted for 36 points, six rebounds, and three assists, the Batang Pier once again fell short in the endgame. William Navarro chipped in a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to lift NorthPort over the hump.

Against Converge (4-3), who are also coming off a stinging 66-85 loss to Ginebra, the Batang Pier will look to capitalize on their opponent’s recent struggles.

If Munzon and Navarro can replicate their form and get more help from the supporting cast, NorthPort has a chance to snap its skid and reignite their campaign in the all-Filipino conference.
