Alas Pilipinas are on the board in the VTV Cup 2025 after firing past China’s Sichuan Wuliangchun in four sets, 25-12, 25-22, 19-25, 25-15, on Monday, June 30, in Vinh Phuc, Vietnam.

Coming off a straight sets defeat to Vietnam a day prior, Alas Women quickly found their groove with a commanding victory against the Chinese club for a 1-1 standing in Pool A.

Despite a third-set defeat, Alas Pilipinas regrouped in the fourth to distance themselves from Sichuan behind a 7-3 start led by MJ Phillips.

Alas Women would continue to hold on to their slim lead even with the pressure thrown at them by Sichuan.

Dell Palomata and Justine Jazareno kept possessions alive for the national team, which eventually led to them building a commanding lead in the frame at 17-11.

Petro Gazz’s MVP duo of Brooke Van Sickle and Phillips also took charge late in the frame to power Alas Women.

Leading 23-14, Vanie Gandler’s attack pushed Alas to match point, before Dell Palomata sealed the win with a kill block.

Last up in pool play for Alas Women will be the Australian Women’s National Volleyball Team tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
