But he needs to put in the work.
There’s no doubt in Terrafirma Dyip coach Johnedel Cardel’s mind it’s only a matter of time before Isaac Go becomes a PBA superstar.
But he needs a couple of things first.
“'Yung speed at lakas ng katawan niya ang wala pa,” he said in an article on PBA website published on Monday.
“Kapag nakuha niya ‘yun, I think Isaac will be a superstar in the PBA.”
Cardel added that Go, who scored 11 points in the Dyip’s 107-102 win over the Meralco Bolts in Sunday's PBA On Tour, needs to start shedding some weight and building up his muscles for the physical demands of playing in the premiere league in Asia.
“Kailangan magbawas ng timbang. Kailangan maging solid siya kasi this is a physical game,” the coach said of the no. 1 pick in the 2019 Gilas Draft.
Since his college days with the Ateneo Blue Eagles, the 6-foot-7 Go showed flashes of brilliance under the guidance of former Gilas Pilipinas coach Tab Baldwin.
He brought that to his national team stints later on, but has yet to make a name for himself in the PBA owing to an ACL injury last season.
Now it’s up to Go to make a prophet out of Cardel.
