Alas Pilipinas aim to bounce back and claim their first win in the VTV Cup 2025 as it faces Chinese club Sichuan Wuliangchun on Monday, June 30 in Vinh Phuc, Vietnam.

Despite falling in straight sets to host Vietnam in their opening match, Alas Women showed plenty of promise behind the impressive national team debuts of Brooke Van Sickle, Leila Cruz, and MJ Phillips.

Cruz paced the squad with 13 points, while Van Sickle, the reigning PVL MVP, tallied 12 markers in their 25-20, 25-21, 25-21 loss.

Phillips, another newcomer to the national team, added 10 points in the losing effort.

Missing several key players from the AVC silver medal campaign, the Philippine squad fielded a retooled 14-woman roster with hopes of gaining chemistry and momentum through the weeklong tournament.

Their next challenge comes in the form of a confident Sichuan squad, which is fresh off a four-set win over Australia to open its own VTV Cup run.

With Van Sickle, Cruz, and Phillips leading the charge, Alas Women look to regroup and earn their first breakthrough win in Pool A.

The match is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
