In a team that heavily relies on Juami Tiongson on offense, Eric Camson emerged as an unlikely hero for the Terrafirma Dyip.

Well, at least on Sunday night.

Camson fired 30 points including the key baskets down the stretch in Dyip’s 107-102 win over the Meralco Bolts in the PBA On Tour at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

After the match, the former Adamson Falcon said he was simply setting an example for his teammates. His offense just followed.

“As a kuya dito sa team ko kailangan ko maging good role model sa mga mas bata sa’kin,” said Camson, who also had 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in over 32 minutes of action.

He dropped 16 of his total output in the third period, then sustained his fine play in the homestretch where he uncorked a booming triple that gave his team a 101-95 advantage entering the last three minutes of the match.

He would score two more points minutes later. JP Calvo then sealed their second straight victory with a left-handed layup for the final score.

Though it wasn’t his first offensive outburst, Camson said Meralco’s defense was focused on Tiongson for the most part which gave him more space for offense.

Tiongson, though, still ended up with 21 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the three-point area.

“Hindi ko naman hinahangad score, si Juami talaga main gunner namin. Thank God binigay sa’kin ‘to. May game plan sila kay Juami, kaya expect na kailangan may mag-step up,” he said.
