MANILA — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set for a historic ceremony tomorrow, February 24, 2026 as boxing legend and former Senator Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao officially turns over his iconic memorabilia to the National Sports Museum.
The event, scheduled for 4:00 P.M. at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City marks a formal effort by the administration to preserve the artifacts of the world’s only eight-division champion as part of the nation’s permanent cultural collection.
The collection includes championship belts and fight gear that defined Pacquiao’s trailblazing boxing career. According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the newly established National Sports Museum aims to transform these individual triumphs into "shared national pride and inspiration for future generations."
Manny Pacquiao emphasized that these items belong to the Filipino people who supported him throughout his journey.
"These gloves and belts are more than just equipment; they represent the sweat, tears, and prayers of every Filipino who climbed into the ring with me. I am donating them so that the youth can see that no dream is too big for a Filipino who works hard and has faith."
The handover will be witnessed by key figures in the Philippine sporting community, including Patrick C. Gregorio, Chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Abraham N. Tolentino, President of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and Various cabinet members and government officials.
More than just a collection of memorabilia, the handover will signify a commitment to protecting the physical history of Filipino resiliency. By safeguarding Pacquiao’s championship gear within the National Sports Museum, the government ensures that the achievements of a global boxing legend are not merely archived but celebrated as a living testament to Filipino greatness.
