The DLSU Lady Spikers imposed their might over the UST Golden Tigresses for a perfect 2-0 start to its UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball campaign.
La Salle asserted its position as a legitimate title contender in UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball after silencing University of Santo Tomas, 25-14, 25-15, 26-24, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay Sunday, Feb. 22.
The Lady Spikers started strong, then shook off a late third-set challenge from the Golden Tigresses to win their first two games against last year’s Final Four teams.
La Salle won its first match, also via sweep, against Far Eastern U.

After taking the first set, La Salle did not waste its early momentum as it went on a 10-2 run in the second.
Skipper Shevana Laput connived on offense with Angel Canino to fend off UST, which threatened at 15-13 after an Angge Poyos off the block hit.
While La Salle had to deal with a much tougher UST side in the third frame, where the Golden Tigresses used an 8-2 run to reach set point, 24-22, superior blocking on the side of the Lady Spikers spelled the difference.
Laput then delivered the finisher with a drop ball.
La Salle improved to 2-0 while season hosts UST finds itself in early trouble at 0-2.
