Filipino billiards star Johann Chua announced that he is permanently stepping away from his personal social media accounts, citing the toll it has taken on his well-being.

In a heartfelt message posted online, Chua shared that he has decided to delete his Instagram, TikTok, and personal Facebook accounts after months of careful consideration.

“At some point, social media became destructive and unhealthy for me. Most people (but not all) here on social media will only believe what they want to believe and see what they want to see. I tried to get used to it, but I don't think it's for me,” Chua wrote.

The former Hanoi Open champion explained that while he appreciated the overwhelming support he received over the years, the environment on social media no longer aligned with his values and personal goals.

“For those who know me, fame is not what I aim for; it just comes along with our victories or downfalls,” he wrote.

Despite stepping back from personal platforms, Chua clarified that his official pages, including his main page and Badkoi Billiards, will remain active and managed by his administrators.

Chua also cautioned fans to be vigilant against posers and scammers, emphasizing that only those two pages are officially linked to him. Importantly for fans and followers of Philippine billiards, the 33-year-old stressed that his departure is limited to social media alone.

“Uunahan ko na kayo, sa social media lang ako aalis. I will still be very much active in tournaments.”

True to that promise, Chua is set to see action in the Universal Chinese Taipei Open, where he aims to capture his first title of 2026.
