In a showdown of top teams in the East, it was the Detroit Pistons that came out on top, beating the Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Sunday (PH time), 138-135.
Both teams entered the game as two of the top-3 teams in the Eastern Conference, with the Pistons now extending their lead at no. 1 with a 15-4 record.
Miami dropped to no. 4 with a 13-7 mark, with the Heat seeing their six-game winning streak come to an end.
Detroit controlled most of the game, leading by as many as 22 points before surviving the close finish.
Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 29 points, while Tobias Harris added 26. Duncan Robinson also had 18 in his return to Miami to face his former team.
Miami got 31 points from Andrew Wiggins in a losing effort.
