The UAAP Cheerdance Competition (CDC) has always been more than just about flips and stunts—it’s a clash of creativity, precision, and school pride.

Since Season 84, fans have watched dynasties rise, rivalries intensify, and routines evolve into jaw-dropping spectacles.

Season 84 (May 2022): FEU breaks the 13-year spell

The 2022 CDC at the Mall of Asia Arena was historic.

FEU Cheering Squad rocked the floor with their high-energy “Break Free” routine, finally ending a 13-year championship drought.

Their flawless stunts and synchronized execution dethroned the two-time defending champion NU Pep Squad, who had dominated the past seasons.

Adamson Pep Squad earned silver with a charming “Country Road” performance, the team’s highest placing since winning in Season 80.

With FEU finally claiming the top step of the podium, Season 84 was a turning point in the FEU and NU rivalry which has been quietly brewing over the last five seasons.

Season 85 (December 2022): NU strikes back

After missing out on their second three-peat, NU Pep Squad returned stronger than ever, reclaiming the championship with a high-energy, dance-packed performance.

FEU stayed competitive with “3 Stars and a TAM” finishing as 1st runner-up, while UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe captured bronze with their dramatic “Edge of Glory” routine.

Season 86 (2023): FEU levels up with “Super TAMario”

FEU was quick to answer with a playful, fan-favorite “Super TAMario” routine, taking the championship once again in Season 86.

NU followed in 1st runner-up with a rock-and-roll-inspired “King of Rock n’ Roll: Elvis Presley,” and UST’s K-pop Blackpink performance earned another bronze.

The FEU-NU rivalry only intensified, with each squad pushing the other to innovate and elevate their performances.

Season 87 (2024): NU soars “Out of This World”

NU Pep Squad reaffirmed their dominance with a show-stopping “Out of This World” routine, taking champion honors.

The victory is significant, as NU tied UP and UST for most CDC titles at eight apiece.

Adamson Pep Squad energized the audience with “Jukebox,” earning 1st runner-up, while FEU Cheering Squad’s magical “Frozen” performance captured bronze.

Looking Ahead: UAAP Season 88 Cheerdance Competition

Over the past four seasons, FEU and NU have traded titles in a fierce back-and-forth, each pushing the other to innovate and elevate the CDC to new heights.

The pattern of champions sets the stage for another thrilling showdown in 2025, as the UAAP Cheerdance Competition returns on November 29 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

With the past seasons as a backdrop, the upcoming CDC promises high stakes, innovative routines, and moments of athletic brilliance that will once again captivate audiences.
