Carl Tamayo uncorked a season-high 34 points, anchoring the Changwon LG Sakers’ 95-83 road drubbing of Justin Gutang and Seoul Samsung Thunders to reclaim solo lead in KBL play on Wednesday, November 8.

It marked Tamayo’s first 30-point game of the season, coming only three points short of his career-high of 37 set earlier this year against the same team.

Assem Marei also delivered a dominant all-around effort, contributing 22 points, 17 rebounds, and six assists, helping the defending champions reclaim to improve to a league-best 10-4 and just a half-game ahead of the second-placed Anyang Red Boosters (9-4).

After a tightly contested first half, Changwon turned up the intensity in the third quarter and built a 73-62 lead heading into the final frame.

The LG Sakers never looked back, leading by as many as 16 in fourth en route to recording their third win in their last four outings.

For Seoul, Justin Gutang scored eight points in a losing effort, while import Andrew Nicholson led the team with 27 markers.

Looking ahead, Changwon aims for a third straight victory when the LG Sakers face JD Cagulangan and the Suwon KT SonicBoom on Saturday, November 15.

Meanwhile, Gutang and his Thunders hope to snap their losing streak against Kevin Quiambao and the Goyang Sono Skygunners a day later.
