Between Philippine bets Carlo Biado and Bernie Regalario, only one will come out on top to move one step closer towards the 2025 World Pool Championship crown.
An All-Filipino semifinal duel is set as Carlo Biado and Bernie Regalario put away their respective quarterfinal foes in the 2025 World Pool Championship.
Biado followed up his tight quarterfinal victory against countryman Jeffrey Ignacio with a 11-7 victory against Ko Ping Chung of Chinese-Taipei.
The 2017 champion thus returned to the semifinals for the third time in the tournament. To this date, the 41-year-old is the last Filipino to rule the event and a second world title now runs through Regalario.
One of the rising stars in the sport, the 20-year-old ousted former world no. 1 and 2023 titlist Francisco Sanchez Ruiz with a stellar 11-4 performance.
Earlier, Regalario eliminated compatriot Patrick Gonzales in the quarterfinals following a 11-7 verdict.
If the teenage sensation manages to overcome Biado and go all the way, he could join a prestigious list of Filipino tournament winners that include the legendary Efren “Bata” Reyes, Alex Pagulayan, Ronnie Alcano, and Francisco “Django” Bustamante to name a few.
The other semifinal bracket features defending champion Fedor Gorst of the United States battling Kledio Kaci of Albania in a finals rematch.
Gorst breezed past Austria’s Mario He and Filipino challenger Jefrey Roda while Kaci took care of business against Konrad Juszczyszyn and Ameer Ali, respectively.
