The Farm Fresh Foxies made it three wins in a row in PVL on Tour, keeping their shot at an outright quarterfinals berth alive.
CEBU CITY — The Farm Fresh Foxies continued to roll in Pool A action in the PVL on Tour, beating the Galeries Tower Highrisers for their third straight win, 27-25, 25-17, 25-18, at the University of San Jose-Recoletos here on Saturday.
Improving to 3-1 with one game remaining, the Foxies can clinch an outright quarterfinals berth if they win over the Nxled Chameleons in their last Pool A match on Sunday.
Farm Fresh first had to stave off a win-hungry Galeries Tower team, especially in the first set where the Foxies were stuck in a back-and-forth tango. The Highrisers were actually first to set point after a France Ronquillo spike, 24-23.
But Jolina dela Cruz supplied a point in the next rally to extend the opener.
Drama surrounded the first set’s ending after a contested ruling on a block touch challenge was what eventually handed Farm Fresh the 27-25 win. This was after Dimdim Pacres’ hit missed the blockers’ hands and sailed out.
After a tense opening set, Farm Fresh appeared to settle down while also taking advantage of the Highrisers’ errors to seize the dominant 2-0 lead, 25-17.
Despite squandering an early 12-6 lead in the third, the Foxies were then able to seal the sweep by once again seizing the opportunity off of Galeries Tower errors.
Trisha Tubu continued to be the focal point on offense for Farm Fresh finishing with 14 points on 13 attacks and one block.
