Filipina tennis star Alex Eala has reached a new milestone in her young career, climbing to a new career-high world no. 56 in the latest WTA rankings.

The 20-year-old Eala jumped an impressive 18 spots following her stellar runner-up finish at the 2025 Lexus Eastbourne Open in England, where she made her first-ever appearance in a WTA final despite coming through qualifiers.

Her previous best ranking was no. 69, achieved in May this year.

The updated WTA rankings were released Sunday, June 29, just ahead of the prestigious Wimbledon Championships, where Eala is set to take on defending champion Barbora Krejcikova in a highly anticipated first-round matchup on Tuesday.

Eala’s strong run in Eastbourne, including wins over higher-seeded opponents like Dayana Yastremska and Varvara Gracheva, continues to boost her credentials as one of the fastest-rising stars on tour.
