Music, mornings, and muscle recovery— runners break it down

Every runner has a rhythm.

Whether it’s the playlist in their ears or the routine after crossing the finish line, preferences can shape the entire experience.

At Sante Barley Trilogy Run Asia Leg 2, we asked a few participants to make some quick picks between common running choices.

The answers? Surprisingly aligned in some areas—and split in others.

Music or No Music?

Music wins across the board.

Not a single runner we asked preferred silence. Whether for focus, fun, or keeping tempo, music is a must-have on the move.

Ice Bath or Hot Shower?

All in on the ice bath.

Post-run recovery is serious business, and everyone agreed: nothing beats the cold plunge when it comes to reducing soreness and bouncing back.

Morning or Night Runs?

Most prefer mornings.

There’s something about starting the day with miles and momentum. That said, a couple of runners were flexible—opting for whichever time fits the schedule. Because life doesn’t always go by the training plan.

Solo or Group Runs?

Split decision.

Some runners thrive on the energy of a group, while others prefer to hit the road solo.

The takeaway? There’s no one-size-fits-all approach—just whatever gets you out the door.

From playlists to post-run plunges, runners know what works for them—and they stick to it. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about finishing the race—it’s about enjoying the run along the way.

So how about you? What’s your non-negotiable on a run?
