The Tim Cone era for Gilas Pilipinas is off to a promising start, with the national team scoring twin victories to start the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.

 

While it was a slow burn, Gilas shift into higher gear in taking down Hong Kong on the road to start the qualifiers.

Then it was a slam dunk home opener for Gilas Men with a sensational showing against Chinese Taipei.

The strong start has been reflected in the latest FIBA world rankings, where Gilas moved up one spot for no. 37 in the world and 8th in Asia.

 

Australia and New Zealand continue to top the Asian rankings, though the Boomers drop one spot and are now world no. 5.

Japan is third in Asia, followed by Iran, Lebanon, China, and Jordan. All five countries maintained their previous rankings.

 

 Also maintaining status quo are Team USA, Spain, and world champion Germany as the top-3 teams in the world.
