It is all systems go for the country’s much-anticipated hosting of the FIBA World Cup, which will officially tip off on August 25 at the cavernous Philippine Arena in Bulacan. And to make sure fans get their money’s worth, the FIBA World Cup Local Organizing Committee (LOC) is making sure everyone will get treated to more than just world-class hoops.

For starters, fans will get free food courtesy of Jollibee, who will be giving away coupons for a Cheesy Yumburger on the house. It will be given right at the gate once fans present their opening-day tickets.

Once inside, fans will then be given FIBA World Cup merchandise, such as scarves, fan clappers, and rally towels. Special LED wristbands will also be distributed, which will allow everyone in the arena to be part of a special lights show that will take place. Fans will also be treated to world-class performances from legendary Filipino new wave/rock band The Dawn, online streaming sensation Ben & Ben, and Asia’s Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo.

Of course, the main attractions on opening day are the two games scheduled: Italy versus Angola in the curtain riser at 4 p.m. and Gilas versus the Dominican Republic in the main game at 8 p.m.

And to help fans get to the Philippine Arena sans the hassle, the LOC has arranged for free point-to-point shuttle bus rides that are scheduled to depart from each boarding terminal at 11 a.m. and 12 noon, and hourly from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. These premium-grade air-conditioned buses will fetch fans from 12 strategically selected terminals:
