Leo Ordiales, Alas Pilipinas Men battle Vietnam for SEA Games bronze finish

Leo Ordiales, Alas Pilipinas Men battle Vietnam for SEA Games bronze finish
Leo Ordiales looks to deliver another solid outing for Alas Pilipinas Men heading into their SEA Games 2025 bronze medal match against Vietnam.

Alas Pilipinas Men will have a shot at ending their six-year podium drought as they face Vietnam in the bronze medal match of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games on Friday, December 19, at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok.

Coming off a tough semifinal defeat to rivals Thailand, Alas Men will be looking to deliver a quick bounce back to end their historic year on a high note.

Standing in their way is Vietnam, which suffered a five-set heartbreak against Indonesia in the semifinals.

In their two meetings in the 2025 SEA V.League, Alas Men and Vietnam split their matches, with the Filipinos taking Leg 1 in straight sets before the Viets countered by taking Leg 2 with a four-set victory.

The Philippine squad will be banking on another strong performance from Leo Ordiales, who put up 24 points against the Thais. Head coach Angiolino Frigoni will also be counting on veteran stars Bryan Bagunas and Marck Espejo to deliver a much better outing this time around.

While it hasn’t been the SEA Games campaign that Alas Men expected, especially after their historic run in the 2025 FIVB Men's World Championship, the Nationals still have a shot at a podium finish for the first time since 2019.
