Alas Pilipinas Women received a major boost in its 2025 Southeast Asian Games buildup as star opposite hitter Alyssa Solomon finally returned from Japan to rejoin the national team’s preparations in Manila.

Solomon attended her first practice on Tuesday after pausing her campaign with the Osaka Marvelous in the Japan SV. League.

The former NU superstar has been putting up solid numbers in Japan, including an 18-point outing to help keep the Marvelous inside the league’s top four with a 9-5 record.

“Alas Alyssa is back! Our powerhouse [JT Marvelous] import has returned to the Philippines and is set to train with the rest of ALAS PILIPINAS as they gear up for the upcoming SEA Games,” the team posted on Facebook.

For the Alas program, the timing is ideal with just weeks before the SEA Games.

As the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference nears its conclusion, more national pool members have been freed from club commitments.

Cignal’s and Capital1’s quarterfinal exits have cleared the way for Dawn Catindig, Vanie Gandler, Bella Belen, and Leila Cruz to join training uninterrupted.

They follow an earlier group of PVL players whose clubs bowed out at the elimination phase, including Choco Mucho’s Maddie Madayag and Kat Tolentino, Galeries Tower’s Julia Coronel, and Chery Tiggo’s Jen Nierva.

Meanwhile, Jia De Guzman, Eya Laure, Angel Canino, and Shaina Nitura have already been deep into system-building weeks ahead of the SEA Games.
